After graduating from Keio University School of Medicine, Dr. Shimizu devoted himself to the studies of plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery and subsequently played a central role in various regenerative medicine projects at the University of the Ryukyus. In March, 2016, he succeeded in Japan’s first transplantation of cultured adipose-derived stem cells for facial depressed lesions. Since then, Dr. Shimizu has been engaged in various research projects involving regenerative medicine.

Professor Sunami specializes in regenerative medicine (tissue engineering), surface science, medical materials, polymer chemistry, and biophysics. As a professional culturist engaged in various regenerative medicine projects at the University of the Ryukyus, Professor Sunami is also working on various research projects as a chief developer of stem cell culture methods.”
